Vingo Policies
Community Guidelines
Rules of conduct, prohibited content, zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users, and how Vingo keeps the marketplace safe.
ZERO TOLERANCE
Vingo has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. By creating an account and using Vingo, you agree to these Community Guidelines and to our Terms of Service, and you agree not to post objectionable content or engage in abusive behaviour (Section 2). We provide tools to report content and users and to block abusive users, and we remove objectionable content and eject the responsible user within 24 hours of a valid report.
#1Our Principles
Vingo is built on trust between buyers and sellers. These guidelines exist to keep the marketplace safe, honest, and respectful for everyone. We expect every user to live up to four simple principles:
- Be honest: accurate listings and truthful communication.
- Be respectful: treat other users with dignity.
- Be responsible: honour your commitments — bids, payments, and dispatch timelines.
- Be law-abiding: only sell items you have the legal right to sell.
These Community Guidelines form part of, and should be read with, the Vingo Terms of Service. Breaking them is a breach of the Terms and may lead to enforcement action (Section 10).
#2Zero Tolerance & Objectionable Content
Vingo does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. “Objectionable content” means any content or behaviour that is, or that a reasonable person would consider to be:
- Unlawful, or that promotes illegal activity;
- Obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit;
- Harassing, bullying, threatening, or intimidating;
- Hateful or discriminatory on the basis of caste, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
- Violent, or that incites or glorifies violence;
- Defamatory, deceptive, fraudulent, or misleading;
- Invasive of another person’s privacy, or that shares someone’s personal data without consent;
- Spam, phishing, malware, or other malicious content;
- Infringing of another person’s intellectual-property or other rights; or
- Otherwise objectionable or inappropriate for a public marketplace.
Posting objectionable content, or behaving abusively toward other users or Vingo staff, is strictly prohibited and will result in removal of the content and ejection of the responsible user, as described in Sections 9 and 10.
#3Conduct Standards
#3.1Prohibited conduct
The following behaviour is not allowed anywhere on Vingo:
- Harassment, threats, or intimidation of other users;
- Discriminatory language based on caste, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, or disability;
- Impersonating other users, Vingo staff, or public figures;
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans or limits;
- Sharing other users’ personal data without consent;
- Posting false reviews or manipulating the ratings system;
- Attempting to conduct transactions off-platform to evade fees or Buyer Protection.
#4Prohibited Items (Summary)
The following may not be listed on Vingo under any circumstances. See Terms of Service §9 for the full list and restricted categories.
- Counterfeit goods of any brand or type;
- Stolen goods, or items of unknown provenance in suspicious circumstances;
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, and dangerous chemicals;
- Narcotics, controlled substances, and unapproved pharmaceuticals;
- Wildlife, endangered species, or products made from them;
- Pornographic or obscene material;
- Items infringing intellectual-property rights;
- Human body parts, organs, or biological material;
- Unregistered financial instruments or unlicensed securities;
- Tobacco and tobacco products, where prohibited by applicable state law;
- Pirated software, media, or digital content;
- Any item banned by the Government of India or a state government.
#5Anti-Counterfeiting Policy
ZERO TOLERANCE
Selling counterfeit items is a criminal offence under the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the Copyright Act, 1957, and can attract liability under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita / Indian Penal Code. Vingo has a zero-tolerance policy for counterfeit goods.
When a listing is reported or found to be counterfeit, Vingo will:
- Immediately remove the listing pending investigation;
- Suspend the Seller account;
- Issue a 100% refund to the Buyer;
- Report the matter to the brand / IP holder;
- Potentially refer the matter to law enforcement or Intellectual Property India.
Brand owners and authorised representatives may report counterfeit listings, with supporting documentation, to legal@justvingo.com.
#6Listing Standards
- Listings must be in English or a recognised Indian language with an English translation;
- All photographs must be of the actual item — stock photos alone are not permitted for used items;
- Condition must be accurately graded and all defects disclosed;
- Prices must be listed in Indian Rupees (INR);
- Listings may not contain embedded contact information designed to facilitate off-platform transactions;
- Keyword stuffing — adding irrelevant keywords to gain visibility — is prohibited.
#7Communication & Interaction
Vingo does not offer private buyer–seller messaging. Users interact through the Platform’s structured tools: public questions on a listing, the bidding and offer flow, and the order screens. These rules apply to all of that activity:
- Keep public questions and answers relevant, respectful, and about the item;
- Do not post personal contact details (phone numbers, external email IDs, social handles, or links) to arrange off-platform deals;
- Do not post spam, advertising, phishing links, or malicious content;
- Sellers should answer genuine questions about an active listing promptly — ideally within 24 hours;
- Do not use listings, questions, or reviews to harass, defame, or mislead.
Vingo may review publicly posted content and listing activity for fraud detection, safety, and dispute resolution, and may remove content that breaches these guidelines.
#8Reporting & Blocking
Vingo gives every user built-in tools to flag objectionable content and to protect themselves from abusive users.
#8.1Report content or a user
Every listing and every user profile has a Report control. To flag something, tap Report, choose a reason, and submit — optionally adding a note or screenshot. You can report listings, questions, reviews, and user profiles. Reports go straight to our Trust & Safety team.
#8.2Block an abusive user
You can block any user from their profile or listing. When you block someone:
- Their listings and content are removed from your view immediately;
- They can no longer interact with you or your listings;
- Our Trust & Safety team is notified of the block and the reason, so we can review the user for objectionable content or abuse.
#8.3Other ways to reach us
You can also chat with us on WhatsApp at +91 96069-42072, or , grievance@justvingo.com (urgent safety or legal), or support@justvingo.com (IP / counterfeit).
#9Moderation & Our 24-Hour Commitment
OUR COMMITMENT
When you report objectionable content or an abusive user, we review it and, where it breaches these guidelines, remove the content and eject (permanently ban) the responsible user within 24 hours.
We keep the marketplace safe using a combination of automated filtering and human review:
- Filtering: listings and public content are screened by automated checks for prohibited items, counterfeit signals, banned keywords, and other objectionable content, and are subject to manual review;
- Reports: content and users flagged through the Report tool are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team;
- Action within 24 hours: valid reports of objectionable content are actioned within 24 hours — the content is removed and the offending user is ejected from the Platform;
- Blocking: a user you block is removed from your experience instantly, independent of our review.
In line with the IT Rules, 2021 timelines for intermediaries, Vingo acknowledges reports promptly and resolves material and objectionable-content violations within 24 hours.
#10Enforcement
Vingo enforces these guidelines through a progressive framework. Objectionable content and abusive behaviour are actioned immediately regardless of history:
| Severity | Examples | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Minor | Listing inaccuracy, late response | Warning; listing edit required |
| Moderate | Misleading description, first-time incivility | Temporary suspension; review |
| Objectionable / abusive | Objectionable content, harassment, abuse of another user | Content removed and user ejected within 24 hours |
| Serious | Counterfeit goods, fraud attempt, repeat violations | Account suspension / permanent ban |
| Criminal | Weapons, narcotics, serious fraud, CSAM | Permanent ban + law-enforcement referral |
Vingo may take any action reasonably necessary to protect the community, including removing content, restricting features, withholding settlements pending investigation, ejecting users, or reporting to the authorities. Users may appeal enforcement decisions to the Grievance Officer.
